Regional Food Fair

One of the showcase events of this Conference is the NSW Farmers’ Association Regional Food Fair which is the official welcome event for the Conference and will be held on Tuesday 20 July in the Badgery Pavilion. The Regional Food Fair is designed to showcase the quality and diversity of produce in NSW and guests will experience unique and innovative dishes from 13 regional hubs. The menu has been designed by Executive Chef, Tim Browne to ensure that the menu features produce from the north, south, east and west of NSW. As a new initiative this year, the NSW Farmers’ Association is inviting the general public to join Delegates for this event.

Here is just a sample of some of the dishes on offer:

NORTH COAST
Sautéed Prawns with chermoula and lime

SOUTHERN
Oysters with cutaway creek raspberry vinegar

CENTRAL WEST
Pork belly, braised rhubarb and macadamia gremolata

WESTERN
Slow roasted Beef, Balsamic onion jam, blue cheese aioli. Brassiere bread

SOUTH WEST
Lamb shank pie with mint and walnut yoghurt

CENTRAL
Apple and frangipane tarts with lavender cream

A limited number of tickets will be available for this year’s event (430), so you must book your tickets prior to getting to the Annual Conference, as once sold out there will be no more tickets available. The Awards Dinner is a celebration of rural achievement with the announcement of the Farmer & Young Farmer of the Year in conjunction with Industry & Investment NSW. The evening’s menu will be designed by Sydney Showground’s Executive Chef and is sure to please.

The Partners Program for 2010 is going to be an exciting mix of food, flowers and fancy footwork! Lyn Armstrong, the President's wife, would like to extend an invitation to all partners and friends of Annual Conference Delegates to attend the Partners Program for 2010 which again will run for 3 days. Bookings are essential via the online booking form at or by faxing back the special event booking form provided in your Delegate Information Pack, by Friday 9th July 2010. The NSW Farmers’ Association is pleased to subsidise a component of the costs for this event.

Star_Icon_-_Green Day One – Tuesday 20th July 2010: Meet & Greet, Lunch & Floral Workshop

After the Official Opening of the 2010 NSW Farmers’ Association Conference, come and meet with the President’s wife Lyn for a coffee and a chance to meet up with some old Conference friends and meet some new ones! At this time we will review the Partners Program for the remainder of the week, enjoy a short introduction to the Annual Conference before being whisked away to a delicious 2 course Lunch at Oliveto Italian Restaurant located on the waterfront at nearby Rhodes.

Following lunch you will learn the fundamental techniques and tips and tricks of floristry under the direction of leading Sydney florist, Pearsons. You’ll be inspired as you learn the techniques which you can use again and again in your own home! Professionally trained fl orists will teach you the correct cutting, flower wiring, storing and visual contrast techniques. As a twist you will be creating the centrepieces which will be used for the Annual Conference Gala Dinner Event! Once you have completed your arrangement, it will be kept on site and stored for the dinner decorations where your name will be displayed next to your beautiful creation. At the end of the Gala Dinner you can
take your arrangement home with you including the vase your arrangement was prepared in.

With over 12,000 guests a year attending classes, Sydney Seafood School is Australia’s leading cooking School! Partners will cook at custom-made, stainless steel cooking islands fitted with state-of-the-art appliances. High Definition LCD screens above the demonstration bench ensure a perfect view of all the cooking action. Your class will commence in the School’s tiered auditorium with a demonstration of the dishes to be prepared. It may look
easy in skilled hands, but recreating it later in your own kitchen can be quite another thing. This is where Sydney Seafood School is unique… after watching the demonstration, you roll up your sleeves and in groups of five with guidance from the presenter and assistants, recreate the dishes, preparing a delicious seafood meal which you then sit down and enjoy with a complimentary wine tasting.
