Pre Conference Sessions / Field Trips

External & Sydney Showground, Sydney Olympic Park
The NSW Farmers Association is pleased to introduce a new format for the pre conference sessions. On Monday 27 July, the external field trips on offer will depart the Showground at 10am and return in time for the afternoon information sessions. The afternoon information sessions will be held in one room and will cover three topics with multiple speakers in each session. Morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea will be provided at no charge to delegates.

1. Economic Review - NAB House and Australian Stock Exchange (10am - 2pm) |
National Australia Bank (NAB) will present a field trip dealing with the financial and economic matters relating to supply chain and supply chain management. NAB has committed key members of staff that deal within this area of the NAB business, to present to Delegates. Get an insight into another aspect of the supply chain. Meet another group of professionals participating in the supply chain. This session will include a visit to NAB House and the Australian Stock Exchange. |

This field trip would commence with a tour of the Sydney Produce Market at Flemington. Sydney Produce Market is the largest fresh fruit and vegetable wholesale market in Australia and one of the largest in the world. It caters primarily to professional buyers from supermarkets, restaurants and green grocers but is also open to the public. As Australia’s leading produce market, it has become the price barometer for fruit and vegetables in Australia. It also continues to set the standard for operational excellence in the fruit and vegetable industry including the development of cool chain systems, distribution networks and other technical innovations. While at the Sydney Produce Markets, presentations from key organisations covering warehousing, logistics, consumer trends and market development will be heard. The tour would conclude by visiting Sydney Ports at Botany to discuss the transport network, logistics and efficiency |

| 2.00pm – 2.50pm | Climate Change Policy & Impact This session will address the emissions trading scheme, soil carbon, international overview and an update from trade exposed industries. Speakers will be sought from DAFF, DPI, Origin Energy, Bluescope Steel, RIRDC and the Climate Institute. |
| 2.50pm – 3.40pm | Climate Change Research & Development This sessions will provide an overview of the State/Federal Government integrated climate change process, address methane emissions from livestock and look at plant breeding. Speakers will be sought from Land & Water Australia, MLA and GRDC. |

| 4.00pm – 4.50pm | Farm Productivity / Research & Development This session will address the future of Government funded research and development within Agriculture. Speakers will be sought from Rural Research & Development Corporation, Australian Farm Institute and DPI. |
| 5.00pm – 5.45pm | Open Board Forum Open forum with questions taken from the floor |
| 6.00pm – 6.15pm | New Delegate Session An introduction to the policies and procedures of Annual Conference for first timers. |
